I have worked in all aspect of the industry from leaving school. I’ve played every role from junior florist to shop manager, I’ve worked for a Dutch wholesaler, a plant nursery and even had nearly 15 years teaching floristry at Doncaster College. I am fully qualified to level 5 (degree level) and am constantly looking to learn new styles, skills and techniques and grow the shop!
I’ve designed flowers for York Minster, Castle Howard and for TV. Weddings are my favourite and we’ve been a part of to many to count! We love them! Inspired by European and Dutch Master florists, my dream was to have my own gorgeous flower shop, which has now come true!
I guess you could say my journey into floristry has been a Covid success story; lockdown gave me the time to reflect. I asked myself, what am I passionate about? I closed the door on my 13 year career in fashion and went back to college to study floristry!
I’ve recently obtained a distinction in my City and Guilds Level 2 Technical Certificate in Floristry! It’s been the best decision of my life. I pinch myself every day. I get to be creative, spread the love and joy of flowers, share my passion and knowledge of house plants.
I’m so excited for my career in the floristry industry and what it will bring.
I’ve been a mum for the last 20 years(!!!) and have now decided to study floristry, Level 2 at Askham Bryan College! I’m already learning a lot and am looking forward to learning more from these wonderful ladies at The Rainflorist!
My number one favourite flower is the ranunculus. Coming in a close second are the more tropical style flowers, especially the Protea.
Can’t wait to get started and for my career to blossom!
